Airglide Conveyor

The Airglide Belt conveyor is a development of the traditional type, but instead of carrying idlers it employs a cushion of air, being the means of supporting the loaded belt between the feed and the discharge.

The design uses the latest sheet metal fabrication technology with strong but lightweight construction.
These sections are generally pre-assembled and delivered to site as head, tail, 3m intermediate, and make-up, casings, all designed to bolt together to form the requisite length of conveyor.

Each casing section is sealed with self adhesive sealing tape between the joints to ensure continuity of the air plenum without leaks. The loaded Airglide belt is supported on a cushion of air supplied by the longitudinal air plenum.

Air is injected at regular intervals along the "U" shaped bed plate to the underside of the belt, generating a low friction support cushion. A small blower unit supplies the low-pressure filtered air to the plenum, which in most instances is sufficient to supply the total belt length.

The Airglide Conveyors are often housed in Tubular Gantries. With lengths in excess of 10 metres, the gantries are protected from the elements by plastic coated preformed sheeting.
