Sugar Bulk Outloading and Screening & Bagging Plant
Robson's vast knowledge of sugar processing came to the fore recently with two of the UK premier sugar processing plants placed orders for conveyor systems.

Project 1
Bagging and Screening Plant
As part of the contract Robson undertook the demolition of the existing plant, plus installed screw conveyors and access steelwork to conveyors.
New Line to Screening and Bagging
Robson designed, supplied and erected a new transfer tower adjacent to bulk outloading building.
Also the design, supply and installation of two new tubular gantries. The Gantries and Transfer tower are clad to give protection from the weather.
New Bagging and Screening Plant
Robson supplied and installed all bucket elevators, belt conveyors and screw conveyors, also installed many other items of plant that were free issue from the customer.
Screening Building
Supplied and installed new screw conveyors to suit the new line, also the moving of personnel stairs to accommodate the new layout. New structural supports were added to ensure the integrity of the building.
Bulk Outloading

New platforms to provide safe access. Modifications to existing vibro screen and magnet.
Installation of new screw conveyors to feed to new line.
Robson supplied the following ATEX rated equipment.
  • 2 - Airglides Conveyors
  • 1 - Bucket Elevator
  • 19 - Screw Conveyors

Bulk Outloading


Project 2.
Bulk Outloading
The new Bulk Outloading facility is designed to accept sugar from an existing Bucket Elevator via a new Screw Conveyor and Airglide Belt Conveyor, supported by a bridge gantry, to a new Bucket Elevator in the new steel framed outloading building.

The Bucket Elevator lifts the sugar to the top floor of the building then discharges it through a

  • Vibro Screen
  • Magnet
  • Metalcheck
  • Sampler

in to a 65 tonne storage bin, which is on load cells.
A pneumatic slide valve allows the sugar to discharge through a bellows loading delivering to a sugar tanker, which sits below on a weighbridge.

The building, gantry and road system are new and bespoke to this project function.
The system capacity is for 100tonne/hour feeding 4000tonnes per week for bulk outloading.

As well as the design and erection of the building and civils, Robson supplied the following ATEX Category 1 equipment for this project.

  • 2 - Airglide Conveyors
  • 1 - Screw Conveyor
  • 1 - Bucket Elevator
