Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Fitter to join our Service Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing and servicing equipment onsite to ensure optimal operational performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
This job role is positioned at a starting level of Tradesman with the ability and development to progress up to a Supervisor level. Candidates with existing supervisory experience are also encouraged to apply.
Duties:
- Assemble and install mechanical handling equipment according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure smooth operation.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs as needed, minimising downtime.
- Document maintenance activities and report any faults or irregularities promptly.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve equipment design and functionality.
- Review risk assessments prior to commencing work to ensure a safe working environment.
- Adhere to permit systems and compliance protocols to maintain operational safety and integrity.
- Collaborate closely with line supervisors and management to coordinate work activities and resolve issues promptly.
- Accurately complete job sheets to document work performed and maintain clear records.
- Maintain responsibility for all issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring it is properly used and cared for.
- Prepare and submit weekly timesheets in a timely manner.
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently during all operations to maintain a safe working environment.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Fitter or in a similar mechanical role within an engineering or manufacturing setting.
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent are advantageous but not essential for highly experienced candidates. - Strong understanding of mechanical handling systems, conveyors, pneumatics, and basic electrical principles is desirable.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings accurately.
- Competence in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments effectively.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
General Working Arrangements:
- The role is predominantly based in the UK
- The role involves being flexible and accommodating to achieve goals.
- The role may involve working outside of normal hours, e.g. weekends, nights, etc.
- Specific projects may involve travel outside of the UK by arrangement.
- All hours worked are to be recorded on timesheets and submitted to the immediate line supervisor/manager.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £15.80-£18.54 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
