Job Title: Procurement Manager
Reporting to: Finance Director
This leadership role is critical in driving optimal procurement strategies to supply and integrate our comprehensive portfolio of high-quality conveying systems, encompassing the latest technology, to a diverse range of industries and geographical markets.
You will develop a dynamic procurement team to support the business in meeting customer needs from initial enquiry to delivery, handover and aftermarket.
You will directly influence the supply chain by driving quality, negotiate contracts, embrace new technologies and optimise processes.
You will work closely and collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to ensure the optimal effectiveness of the procurement team and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- The management of suppliers, the supply chain, together with the day-to-day management of all material procurement, handling and preservation.
- Timely and accurate transfer and document completion of site supplies and certification through management of stores and despatch.
- Strong inventory control, planning and inbound/outbound process management enabling the most effective supply chain of Robson Products to market.
- Supplier/partner relationship management for improved quality, flexibility, responsiveness and cost improvement.
- Develop and maintain detailed supply agreements to deliver quality and supply chain flexibility, optimise work in progress management and support the optimisation of the cashflow of the business.
- Drive improvements in KPls using negotiation, alternative supply and sourcing opportunities.
- Focused on the successful onboarding and management of suppliers/partners with new product offerings.
- Ability to manage supplier component certificates of conformity and adherence of product to meet the ATEX directive and other directives as required.
- Develop and maintain departmental procedures, whilst working collaboratively within the business, aligned with departmental managers to actively address and close out Non-conformances in a proactive manner, whilst driving continuous improvement and promoting best practices.
- Responsible for the management of customs compliance.
- Timely ordering of long lead time and critical path materials and subcontract resource and taking the initiative to expedite orders as required.
- Management of contract labour under purchase order, working closely with the HR team in line with IR35 legislation.
- Mitigate supply chain risks including Sub-Contractor Risk Management.
- Develop strong forecasting controls to enable timely decision making.
- Manage, develop, coach and lead the procurement team members to act as a key business partner driving progress towards the company's Right First-Time initiative.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date record systems for supplier database.
- Engage with the sales team to assist with estimating costs to support project proposals.
- Assist the management team in ensuring improvements to, and compliance of, internal company procedures and policies.
- Liaise with Site Teams dynamically to meet changing requirements.
Context of the Role
- The Procurement Manager will be central to business operations working:
- closely internally with Project Managers, Finance team, Engineering team (both mechanical and electrical), Factory, Service and Site teams, as well as the individual project execution functions.
- collaboratively externally with suppliers, quality management and external auditors of various disciplines (H&S, Quality, ATEX, and financial)
- Work to ISO compliance including maintaining documentation to support 9001 and 14001 standards.
Core Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in the procurement of both materials, indirect services and subcontract supply.
- Proven experience of purchasing and global supplier management systems (Supplier Sourcing, Approval, Audit, etc.) with a strong understanding of purchase requisitioning controls.
- Leadership experience having had responsibility of over 5 years of managing a team/department.
- Knowledge and experience of the ATEX directive or willing to undertake training.
- Strong understanding of Project and Spares procurement and the ability to liaise with the Engineering team, Project Managers and Site Managers.
- Experience of global sourcing and adherence of customs compliance process and procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering, business or manufacturing discipline.
- CIPS Level 3 advanced certificate in procurement and supply.
- Strong organisational, negotiation, communication, collaborative and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and drive for continual improvement.
- A basic understanding of engineering drawings is advantageous.
- ISO/IMS experience preferred.
